It began a few years ago with a small group of family and friends with a few fireworks to set off on the 4th of July. It has since grown to be a community-wide gathering with free food, fireworks and festivities, attracting a crowd estimated in the thousands. This year’s celebration will be the biggest ever, according to founder Misael Nunez.
Crowd estimates for Thursday’s Fourth of July celebration at Tres Hermanos Nunez restaurant ranged from hundreds to thousands, with no way to ever know exactly how many people gathered in Grayson to enjoy a meal, music, fellowship and fireworks provided free of charge by the Nunez family.

Misael Nunez and family tended to a last minute details from tent lighting to vine trimming and receiving a load of fireworks Wednesday as they prepared a place for a party to celebrate the Fourth of July behind their restaurant, Tres Hermanos Nunez in Grayson.
Adorned in plenty of red, white and blue with lots of short shorts, boots and declarations of love for America, hundreds of people gathered at the Carter County Fairgrounds Wednesday for Carter County Thunder 2019.
