Carter County Thunder a roaring success

Adorned in plenty of red, white and blue with lots of short shorts, boots and declarations of love for America, hundreds of people gathered at the Carter County Fairgrounds Wednesday for Carter County Thunder 2019.

The audience rolled in early, with many placing their seats in selected positions in front of the stage to ensure a good view of the evening’s entertainment which began with an inspired performance by Dustin Savage and Whiskey Ridge. Savage was backed by drummer Zack Martin, bassist David Young and lead guitarist Brady Smith.

A pair of lines formed toward the West Carter High School FFA tents, where funnel cakes, ribeye steak sandwiches and Mountain Dew were in tremendous demand, while many spent the pre-sunset hour strolling around and greeting their neighbors, many of which had their dogs on leashes along for the music and fireworks.

Dustin Burchett & Kentucky Clear took the stage to prepare the audience for headliner Tyler Booth & The Asphalt Outlaws, who caused a surge of movement to the front as they hit the stage before the evening’s annual fireworks extravaganza.
