James L. Stephens, 81 of Grayson went to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 21, 2021 after a long illness.
James was born January 17, 1940 in Hillsboro, OH a son of the late Clyde B. and Clara Stephens. He was retired from the Army as a Sergent Major and from Ashland Coal. James was a minister at Iron Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Burton Stephens, Jr. His survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sandra Kay Stephens; three sons, James “Jim Bob” Stephens, Jr. of Charleston, WV, Tim (Alsia) Stephens of Grayson and Ben Stephens of Grayson; one sister, Ann Grizzle of Russell, KY; four brothers, Phillip Stephens of Flatwoods, John Stephens of Raceland, Tom Stephens of Russell and Steve Stephens of Flatwoods; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family elected to have a private service at this time. There will be a celebration of Jim’s life at a later date. Burial with military honors will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East.
