Mrs. Ruth Virginia Brown Sallie, age 96, of Rush, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord Friday, September 18, 2020, at the Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, Kentucky.
Ruth was born July 19, 1924, in Argillite, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Homer and Emily McCall Brown.
She was member of Cane Creek Freewill Baptist Church, Argillite, Kentucky, for more than 60 years. She served the Lord as a member of the church choir, church secretary and Sunday School teacher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years in 2002, Leonard “Dee” Sallie; three brothers, J.T Brown, Farris Brown and Curtis Brown; and a sister, Erma Jean Blevins.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Loretta Burton of Ashland; three sisters, Ruie Brown, Eloise Johnson, and Betty Joyce Moore, and two brothers, Donald (Betty) Brown and Homer (Jacklyn) Brown all of Greenup. She is also survived by Katrina Beth Salley of Wilmore and Matthew Salley of Grayson who she thought of as grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020, at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until the service hour followed by burial in Carter County Memory Gardens.
Officiating the services will Reverend Shelton Wheeler and Brother Wayne Sexton. Donald Salley, Larry Salley, Charles Caylor, Matthew Salley, Ralph Salley, and Tim Blevins will serve as pallbearers.
