Second Saturday Music & Art Shindigs series begins Saturday

Kicked off in 2016 with support and sponsorship of the local newspaper and former Editor Tim Preston, the Grayson Gallery & Art Center, Inc. embarked on a new series of summer events called the “Second Saturday Music & Art Shindigs”, which have been very well received locally.

An evolution from the initial “circus” atmosphere into a more focused music event with a visual art background in its next phase, the arts events then moved forward to include another local newsman’s vision (Jeremy Wells) as a “Poetry Slam” venue for the spoken word!

And, the GGAC has come full circle, kicking off on July 13 from 6:30 pm to 9:30pm, the first of 2019’s series will include another “Holler Down The Holler” Poetry Slam, which will award winners $100 in various prizes.

In addition, live heavy metal music will be featured along with the art currently on display. The showcased band will be “Margins to Mountains” a recently-formed group of experienced musicians featuring Kyle Martin Smith on vocals, Justin Lyons on drums, Casey Skeens on guitar with Josh McCoy on bass.

Light snacks and drinks will be provided and the event is free to the public. However, in order for the GGAC to continue to offer and expand this series, a donation of $5.00 per person is suggested at the door.
