F!nal Fr!day Halloween Art Show & Costume Party

The Grayson Gallery & Art Center, Inc., will be open by invitation on October 30th for a F!nal Fr!day Halloween Art Show & Costume party with an opening reception from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

All current COVID-19 guidelines will be followed for attendees. Over two dozen artists submitted work for the GGAC’s popular annual exhibit and 60 pieces will be on display, with most for sale.

Music will be provided by the Goodfellas, an Eastern Kentucky jazz, fusion, funk, blues and soul band who perform across the area.

In addition, wearing a costume is encouraged to be eligible for the Costume Contest; various prizes will be given to winners.

An Awards and Announcements ceremony will take place at approximately 7:00 pm and will include the costume prize-winners as well art awards for the People’s Choice (by popular vote), the GGAC Board Choice and the Brandon Click Memorial Award (each at $50.00).

Snowie of Grayson will be on-site in the parking lot and will offer flavored cappuccino, hot chocolate and Snowies at affordable prices; no food or drink served inside the gallery space.

Coming up will be another virtual, online-only Facebook show which will present submitted pieces via photographs of artists’ works on November 27 after 6:00 pm.

Artists will be invited to submit work with a holidays theme.  The GGAC is seeking working artists and volunteers to man the space when available.  Contact Dan Click, director: graysongallery@gmail.com for information.

"Another First" for Grayson Gallery & Art Center

It’s another first for the Grayson Gallery.  THANK YOU!

The Grayson Gallery & Art Center, Inc. had artists submit artwork in real time for the organization’s first video-opening presentation and its “Summer’s End” Art Show & Sale.  Regional artists participated by bringing work to the GGAC and their art will be on display virtually on Facebook (Dan Click’s personal page in addition to the formal Grayson Gallery & Art Center, Inc. page).

Planned for a short online release after 6:00 pm on September 25 for the monthly Final Friday showcase, the gallery will remain closed to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions. Gallery Director Dan Click will be presenting all of the pieces in the exhibit via a video recording, along with personal comments about selected works, artist highlights, use of various media, subjects chosen and will include September’s award winners as well.

Art will also be photographed and available for viewing through October in an Album on these Facebook pages. The GGAC Board Choice and the Brandon Click Memorial Award, each at $50.00, have been selected and will be announced during the presentation. Award checks will be mailed to the winning artists.

Coming up will be a special event, hosted by the Grayson Rotary Club, on September 26 for their first drive-through “Pancake Breakfast-To-Go” from 8:00 am to noon in the gallery parking lot, for pick up only, at 301 East Third Street in Grayson.  Meals, including pancakes, butter & syrup, bacon & sausage are $6.00 each (KCU students cost will be $5.00 with ID) and the fundraiser is being sponsored by Kentucky Christian College.

The gallery will soon be making the formal announcement of the recent Kentucky Foundation for Women’s “Art Meets Activism” grant, a community project involving the GGAC and Karen Combs, President of the Huntington Blues Society (as lead musician/artist and historian) for a program about the history of Appalachian women in music, their influence on various genres and instrumentation workshops.

Next, plans are underway to be open to the public – following all COVID-19 guidelines – for the GGAC’s annual Halloween Art Show & Masquerade to be held on Friday, October 30 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Contact director Dan Click for information by email: graysongallery@gmail.com
