4-H Summer Opportunities

Looking for some fun youth activities this summer? Look no farther than Carter County 4-H. With a wide range of activities there's something to spark everyone's attention. Space is limited for all programs so call the Extension Office at 474-6686 to register and request registration forms. All events will be at the Carter County Extension Office unless otherwise noted. 

Cloverbud Explorer Day - June 27 from 8:30-4:30 - The Explorer Day is open to current 4-H members who have just finished Kindergarten through the third grade. 4-H members will explore a variety of 4-H topics including gardening, sewing, crafts, cooking, insects and more. Registration deadline June 26.  

Kids Can Cook - July 16 from 9:00-3:00 - Come learn new culinary techniques. Open to all Carter County youth ages 6 and up.  Register by July 5.  

State Egg Demonstration & Chicken BBQ Contest - July 27- Show off your cooking or grilling skills! Contest will be held in Richmond and is open to all 4-H members ages 9 and up. The winners in the senior division will advance to the National 4-H Poultry Contest.  Register by July 17.

District Lawn Mower & Tractor Driving Contest - July 29 at 11:00 at Greenup County Extension Office - Show off your driving skills through the 4-H course! Open to all 4-H members ages 9 and up for lawn mowers and ages 12 and up for tractors. Register by July 26. 

Craft Day Camp - August 1 from 9:30-4:00 - Paper crafting, candle making, sand art, embroidery, bead crafts, and much more! Open to all Carter County youth ages 9 and up. Register by July 5th. Cost is $5.  

County Fair Exhibit Hall - Entries will be accepted from all Carter County residents on Sunday, August 11 from 2:30-5:00.  Categories will be posted online at www.cartercountyfair.org/.  The Exhibit Hall will be open nightly during the Fair for viewing, August 12-16.

County Fair 4-H/FFA Livestock Shows & Auction - August 12 - Stop by the fair to see our hardworking 4-H and FFA members with their beef, sheep, swine, goat, rabbit, and chicken projects.
