Demolition work began last week on the old single-lane bridges along Rt. 773 between Grayson and Hitchins as work nears completion on the nearby replacement bridges and related structures along the former EK Railroad route.

Musicians have been gathering in the Hitchins community of Carter County for untold years, with many confident the tradition of getting together to play and sing on a Saturday night has been upheld for decades.
It was one of those “in the right place at the right time” moments Saturday evening along Rt. 773 in Hitchins, as an almost golden glow engulfed Hitchins Wesleyan Church in the final rays of the day’s light on July 27, 2019.
