Olive Hill: Trail Town Stage Show Saturday, April 23

Trail Town Stage Coordinator Beau Lambert will be among the performers who will share the spotlight Saturday evening in Olive Hill.

"I will be hosting the show and performing with Whistle & Fish," Lambert said this week, adding Whistle & Fish is a family band featuring father and son Will Parsons on banjo and Matt Parsons on vocals and guitar, along with Megan Gregory and Annuet Parsons.

Lambert, a member of the East Carter High School Class of 2006, studied traditional music at Morehead State University and also performed in places including China and New York City as part of the school's Mountain Music Ambassadors band. He also played bass with Larry Sparks for two years.

Keith Prater, a singer/songwriter from Hazel Green, Kentucky will perform with the band Lacy Creek, Lambert said, and the Trail Town Stage show will also feature a performance by students from Dance With Hope Studio.

"I'm very excited to be able to host such a great event. It has long been a personal goal to be able to host something in my hometown. I want to try to bring life back to the (Olive Hill High School) gymnasium, and bring traditional music back to our area."

As the new coordinator for the Trail Town Stage series, Lambert said has long recognized "there's all kinds of opportunities with this."

"We have some big ideas," he said, noting he is working closely with board members to plan and schedule additional Trail Town Stage concerts and events, hopefully to include a "variety show" in October, in addition to a Tom T. Hall tribute/showcase concert.

Tickets for Saturday's show in the gymnasium at the Olive Hill Center for Arts and Education, 120 Comet Drive, will be available at the door, $10 for adults, $5 for 13 and under and free admission for children less than three years old. Concessions will be available.
