Margaret Louise Smith, 75, of Sandy Hook, KY went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at St. Claire Hospital in Morehead.
Margaret was born December 6, 1945, in Webbville, a daughter of the late Beecher Yates and Dorothy Sloas Whitt. She was a retired sewing machine operator for Sealy Mattress. Margaret loved to work in her flower garden during warm weather, quilting during the winter months, but loving her family was a year around love.
She was preceded in death by a son William L. Bond, Jr.; granddaughter, Tiffany Cornwell; sister, Janet Sue Yates Caudill and three brothers, Steve, Beecher and Ronnie Yates; two brother-in-laws, Stanford McCoy Smith, Jr and Billie Wendall Smith; sister-in-law, Avenell Wells, along with several nephews.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Darrell Smith; three daughters, Tina (Rich) Halcombe of Pataskala, OH, Tammy (Ron Carter) Smith of Royal Palm Beach, FL and Sheri (Greg) Rager of Wadsworth, OH; three sisters, Jenanne (Eric) Pearson of Hasty, CO, Sandra (Irvin) Markwell of Sandy Hook, KY and Karla (Steve) Dinkins of Winder, GA; five brothers, James (Vivian) Yates of Olive Hill, KY, George (Arlene) Yates of Sandy Hook, KY, Donnie (Kim) Whitt of Grayson, John Whitt of Monterey, CA and Randy (Sandy) Yates of Frankfort, KY; grandchildren, Nichole (Zac) Guard, Richard (Samantha) Halcombe III, Kayla (Nick) Pereira, Marissa (Trey Pryce) Smith, Mika (Nate Ohl) Derifield, Jeff (Hilary) Rager, Baylee (Allen Lostaglia) Rager; eleven great-grandchildren; four in-laws, Carolyn S. (Milton) Cox, Dora Mae Whitt, Patricia G. (Chuck) Winkler and Karen L. (Fred) Hackworth.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, 1:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home with Dr. Rich Halcombe, minister. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends may call Sunday from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. Monday until service.
