Tribute for Wayne ''Doc'' Bradford August 22, 1933 ~ December 21, 2020: Malone Funeral Home


Wayne “Doc” Bradford, 87 of Denton went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 21, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Doc was born August 22, 1933 in Hitchins, KY, a son of the late Dewey and Edna Crum Bradford. He retired and was a 50-year member of Boilermaker’s Local 667 in Nitro, WV, an Army veteran (54-56), attended the Hitchins Freewill Baptist Church, founding member of Hitchins Volunteer Fire Department and sang bass in the choir at the Hitchins Freewill Baptist Church. A lifelong sports fan, Doc loved the Reds and the CATS and was a proud member of Hitchins Basketball Team.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Millard Bradford, Bill Bradford and Bruce Layne Bradford; six sisters, Mildred Bradford, Francis Bradford, Lois VanHorne, Inella Smith, Ruth Carol Parrish and Suzanna Littleton. Doc is survived by his wife of 50 years Iva McWhorter; two daughters, Cindy (Keith) Hill of Denton and Becky (Brian) Brown of Grayson; one sister Sandra Kaye Felty of Commercial Pointe, OH; one brother, Ronald Bradford of Mechanicsville, MD; three grandchildren, Kelsey (Corey) Gee, Braden Brown and Peyton Brown; one great-granddaughter, Ava Gee; and a host of nieces and nephews to mourn his passing.


Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, 3:00 p.m. at Hitchins Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Hill, minister. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Grandsons and family will serve as pallbearers, along with an honorary pallbearer, George Knipp.
