Tourism commission chairman Mindy Woods-Click said she and others serving on the sports park's materials committee met Wednesday to discuss lighting, fences, plumbing, turf and other considerations when one of the construction workers reported a piece of equipment, possibly a roller, required attention.
They then learned a D-8 dozer had also malfunctioned, and that it appeared someone had put sugar in the fuel tank of both pieces of heavy equipment, she said.
The city's police department was again called in Monday morning, she said, after Tourism Coordinator Maggie Duncan was unable to gain entry to the rear door of the tourism cabin. There was no further indication of attempted forced entry, with damage limited to the lock mechanism, Woods-Click said, noting the cabin's locks were changed immediately.
