Traffic Advisory: KY 1496 closed Wednesday for pipe replacement

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (Aug. 3, 2019) – State highway crews will temporarily close KY 1496 two miles west of Willard in Carter County on Wednesday, Aug. 7, to replace a drainage pipe under the highway. Work will begin about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at mile marker 5. The road will remain closed until 3 p.m., or until work is complete.

Motorists may reroute through Hitchins or Grayson to KY 7 to reconnect to KY 1496 at Grayson Lake. Or, traffic may detour using KY 1, KY 486 along the Lawrence County line and KY 1122.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
