FRESH & LOCAL: Kitchen Family Offers Homegrown Goodness

Offering four types of tomatoes (including green), freestone peaches, half-runner beans, Ambrosia sweet corn, watermelon and more, Tina Kitchen is joined by Haylee Kouns, Mariah Kitchen and Nathan Cummings at her family’s produce stand in Grayson, at the edge of the old Ralph’s parking lot.

“We also have peppers. We’ve got hot and mild banana and Jalapeno,” as well as red and green bell peppers.

Most of the produce is grown on the family farm in Willard, except for the freestone peaches, and the watermelons. “The watermelons are grown in Greenup on my brother Eddie Martin’s farm,” she said.

The local farm relies on the hard work of four to five family members. “Four or five of us, depending on if the boys want to hang around or not,” Kitchen said with a chuckle.
