Grayson - "Volunteers are welcome" for Saturday's Spruce-Up Main Project

Enjoying Wednesday's outstanding afternoon weather, Devon Justice was supervised by his dog Chico, while shoveling and raking the sidewalks and driveway at his home at the corner of Pomeroy and 3rd Streets.

With a goal of making downtown Grayson better sparkle and shine during the upcoming Hometown Holidays celebration as well as the 2021 Christmas Parade, a group of volunteers will be gathering on Grayson's Main Street at 2 p.m. Saturday (November 20) for some serious "sweeping and scrubbing." organizers said Wednesday.

"We want downtown to look very festive for Hometown Holidays (December 3 and 4) and the Christmas Parade (December 4)!"

The cleanup, which will also involve holiday window decorating, is a project by the Grayson Creative Community Group. The spruce-up was identified during an earlier meeting of downtown Grayson merchants and property owners as a low-cost opportunity to improve the city's appearance. Grayson Tourism Commission is providing cleaning supplies including garbage bags for Saturday's effort.

Organizers said they will be thrilled to be joined by anyone who would like to get involved with Saturday's tasks.

"Volunteers are welcome! BYOG - Bring Your Own Gloves!"
