Morehead State University Eagles' Women's Head Coach Cayla Petree motivated members of the Grayson Area Chamber of Commerce Tuesday during the organization's monthly lunch meeting, held at Kentucky Christian University.
Petree cited motivations ranging from Nasa to Forrest Gump as she strives to build "reliance, trust and partnerships" within the community as well as on the gym floor.
She paraphrased Daryl Woods of NASA's comment that teamwork requires everyone to be "Responsible to the element, accountable to the mission."
"I don't just pray for a blessing. I pray to be a blessing," Petree said, offering her team's assistance with local community efforts "or if someone should be honored at a game."
Inviting the group's members to attend upcoming MSU Eagles' basketball games, Petree joked that she will be easily recognized as "the one cheering on the sidelines like a psycho!"
