Grayson Gallery & Art Center -Eighth Annual "Women in the Arts" LIVE: Female Artists Invited to Drop Off Art March 20, 22nd

Hello, my friends!

Let’s all plan to celebrate the Eighth Annual Women in the Arts” LIVE and healthy this year!

We had wonderful “virtual” participation by female artists in March of 2020 as we all came to grips with the COVID crisis. However, that was a first for the Grayson Gallery as we hadn’t missed an opening reception for this annual event since it began.  It’s time to get back together in celebration of Women’s History Month with lots of exciting activities like art & music! Here’s how…

Female artists are invited to DROP OFF ART at the gallery as follows (others, by special invitation, will present work virtually and will be included in the Facebook Album for online viewing):

TWO DATES – Saturday, March 20* and/or Monday the 22nd, each day from 10am to 2pm.
THREE PIECES – any subject and any medium will be accepted but please, give some thought about issues important to women as you create or choose pieces to display that are ready to display.
NO FEE! Donations are always appreciated of course; the GGAC will receive 15% from $OLD works only.THREE AWARDS! People’s Choice (yes, your vote counts), the Brandon Click Memorial and the GGAC Board Choice** will be given; each award is $50.00.

*Artists are invited to stick around the gallery on the afternoon of the 20th!  Board President Amanda Grigsby and the Upward Spiral Alliance, a group focused on will have their March meet-up at the gallery. This will include announcements, an arts activity and a guest speaker covering issues such as recovery from addiction, mental illness or both.

The gallery will be hosting “100 Years of Appalachian Women in Music”, a project focused on history, songwriting, performing, instrumentation and more and was funded by a Kentucky Foundation for Women’s “Art Meets Activism” grant. The Lead Artist is musician Karen Combs and kicking it off, as entertainers for the evening of March 26, will be the “Appalachian Ladies Revue”. These performers will be involved in the upcoming workshops (watch for more details, dates and times) as well.

** The GGAC Board Choice winner will be used as “cover art” for a compilation CD to be created by musicians (professionally produced) involved in the KFW project! NOTE: Artists participating in the exhibit agree to this use of the artwork chosen.

The Grayson Gallery will be open much more often as we ease into the new year following all guidelines and procedures for a safe environment. We need volunteers! Please contact me for details.
