January winter weather blew a cold wind through Hitchens, KY on Saturday the ninth, but the CCA gym was heating up with the first basketball games of the season.
The Lady Knights high school team “Started out with the jitters, but then found a rhythm and played well,” said Asst. Coach Dean Brand.
The women’s team had only one week of practice under their belt this year before the game.
Coach Charlie Mayo talked about how, “The CCA Men’s team has been practicing since June last year, but the girls had volleyball, then Covid cut us out. They only had 2-3 practices and had to be ready to play. You just have to be ready when it comes.”
