The first annual KCU Veterans Day 5K Run/3K Walk was held at 4:30pm Wednesday November 11, 2020. The event was planned by Donald Damron, VPSS and was open to KCU faculty, staff and students.
Twelve people ran the racecourse that included city streets, campus sidewalks and the KCU Knight’s Stadium. Cold damp weather, slippery leaves and streets made for challenging conditions but all the runners rallied and finished the race.
Soccer coaches and the KCU Cross Country team helped with the event. Professor Dr. Dean Brand, a National Guards veteran, who ran in the race was recognized and thanked for his service. A prayer was offered at the end of the event, and all runners will receive a t-shirt.
Damron was pleased with the turn-out and announced the race would be an annual event to honor and thank our veterans, military and service members.
