Grayson Rotary Resumes In-Person Meetings - Drive-Through Pancakes Planned

Grayson Rotary Club Past President Aaron Kitchen gave the President's pin he's worn for the past two years to new President Shadow Skaggs during the local civic club's first in-person meeting since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Monday, August 17, 2020.

Rather than having a guest speaker for the day, members discussed the club's financial obligations including a scholarship, support for a veteran's organization and an end-of-season meal for the East Carter Football team.

The local Rotarians agreed to raise funds by continuing their traditional pancake breakfast, which will be conducted as a drive-through service for the first time. Members Dan and Mindy Click suggested the club use the Grayson Gallery & Art Center as the site for the event, citing the all-around parking area as an easy path for patrons in cars and trucks.

Mindy Click was also presented with a Paul Harris Fellow pin (her third!), and Skaggs distributed cloth "Rotary Cares" masks and displayed a second type of Rotary mask with a design which seemed more appropriate for health and home care workers.

Members gathered inside the Grayson Gallery & Art Center and remained masked until seated, although some maintained their facial covering throughout the session as they sat near coworkers or spouses. Skaggs and several others often expressed their enthusiasm for the opportunity to come together in person as the group delayed official discussion until everyone had a chance to eat the fast food lunches they brought - a big change for an organization used to the menu at Melini Cucina!

Grayson Rotary Club will meet again from noon to 1 P.M. August 24, 2020. To learn more visit https://www.facebook.com/graysonrotary/
