Carter County natives who were killed in action while serving in America’s military will be memorialized and honored at 1 p.m. today (Saturday – May 30, 2020) at Veterans Park in Grayson.
The ceremony is set to include reading of The Fallen and Placing of the Wreath with a live performance of the song Taps by Evan Barney.
Organizer William Shaffer offered a public apology for being unable to have the park ready for guests last weekend while area residents celebrated Memorial Day Weekend, and was pleased to be able to present the program on May 30 – which is the traditional Memorial Day date.
Veterans Park is located at the corner of Main and Hord Street in downtown Grayson. Recent visitors have likely noticed the addition of numerous flowers and plants, along with other improvements. The park is maintained by funding from Carter County Veterans Bingo, which is located in the former location of Ralph’s Food Fair on Carol Malone Boulevard.
