Beth's Half Marathon- By: RWC OG

Community according to Webster’s dictionary is “a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals”.  There is no doubt in my mind that Carter County embraces this term.

Saturday our community came together to cheer on one of our own – Beth Kozee.

Beth started training months ago for her first half marathon set to take place on April 25 in Nashville, Tennessee. Then came Covid-19 that seemed to put all life plans on hold. Beth did not let that deter her. She continued her training, and was set to crush her first half marathon on the sidewalks of Grayson.

Beth is part of The Running Wife Club, and thanks to her fellow members, Beth did not have to run her first half alone. Amy Greer (a fellow club member and friend) organized an event to cheer Beth on during her half marathon. Amy joined Beth for all 13.1 miles, while other club members, family, & friends gathered along the streets of Grayson to cheer Beth a long as she embarked on her journey.

While race day did not go as Beth had originally planned, as a fellow runner, I know that it will go down as a race day she’ll never forget. A day filled with cheering, love, and encouragement (all from 6 feet away).

Life may seem to be set on pause at the moment, but I encourage you to take this time to set new goals and crush them. Whether you run, walk, or crawl just keep moving.
