2020 Senior Shoutout: Trace Tackett

Trace Tackett is a graduating senior from the class of 2020 from West Carter High School. He is the son of Mike and Kim Tackett and the grandson of the (late) Larry and Kaye Tackett and Ralph and Kay Keene.

Trace’s hobbies are spending time with his family and friends, and turkey hunting with his brother Brett. Trace is a multi-sport athlete, having participated in baseball, basketball, and football. Trace has been successful both academically and athletically. He earned a 3.9 GPA and obtained his Certified Nursing Assistant certificate through the Carter County Vocational School. Trace has been a distinguished scholar all 4 years of his high school career.

Trace is one of only three athletes at West Carter to win district championships in three different sports. He has two in baseball, one in football and one in basketball. Trace’s highlights of his senior year include playing football, a sport he hadn’t played since 6th grade. As a part of a memorable team he was a contributor on a district champion football team. As a starter on the basketball team he hit a 3-point field goal with 14 seconds left, as well as two free throws with three seconds remaining to help the Comets advance to the championship game against East, where West Carter became district champions for the first time since 1999. He was voted to the Eastern Kentucky Conference all EKC team by area coaches. Trace plans to attend Ashland Community Technical College and major in nursing.
