Carter County Quilts for Veterans: Donated Fabrics Will Warm Young & Old

Members of the Carter County Quilts for Veterans enthusiastically received a small collection of fabrics and quilting supplies collected by The Carter County Post and Antiques N’ Uniques in Grayson.

The local group presents “Quilts of Valor” on behalf of the national Quilts Of Valor Foundation, and welcomes local quilting enthusiasts to join their ongoing mission..

“We meet to sew on the first and third Friday of each month in the Education Building at the Carter County Extension Office located on US 60 East of Grayson.”

“Our monthly meetings are the last Monday of each month at 4:45 in the same building,” spokesperson Sheila Binion said.

The group relies primarily upon red, white and blue fabrics for the quilts the create for military veterans, although the donated collection’s various patterns and colors, which included several fabrics perfect for children, will be used for other quilts destined for a variety of owners including Hospice patients as well as children who are suddenly displaced from their parents due to domestic situations, Binion explained.

The next Quilt of Valor Presentation is Sunday, May 24th at 2:30, at the Grayson First Church of Christ. The event is open to the public and is part of the Grayson Memory Days Celebration.
