Carter Christian Academy held their annual Sr. Night during a mens’ and womens’ double-header February 22, 2020.
The gym was decorated with balloons, streamers and posters with photographs celebrating the Seniors basketball careers. Along the back wall of the stage a row of tables for each student held mementos and a canvas with markers for people to write well-wishes.
A nice crowd of friends and family filled the bleachers for the games. The presentation of the seniors was held in-between the games.
This years seniors included Lady Warriors Shelby Salyers and Grace Williams. Their coaches this year were Missy Sparks and Charlie Mayo. The girls were presented a framed pencil drawing of their jersey.
This years senior men’s team included six players; Kaden Williams, Luke Greenhill, Johnny Zuidema, Tyler Wages, Ashton Prater and Braydon Boggs. Their coaches were Charlie Mayo, Tony Sparks and Rich Sexton. The men were also presented a framed drawing of their jersey.
A special honor was achieved this evening when Luke Greenhill shot his 1000th point of his career. The game was stopped to present Greenhill with a basketball painted in the school colors with 1000th point written on it. After a few photos were taken of him and his coaches, the game continued.
Both teams won their games to the roar of the crowd. Afterwards everyone gathered on the hardwood to take pictures of the team members with their friends and families. Tears were shed, hugs were given, and well-wishes were had. All in all, a fun celebration night of both teams’ seniors’ accomplishments.
