West Carter’s wrestlers beat Ironton and tied Boyd County in their first home tournament Tuesday, January 28, 2020.

Afterwards, Head Coach Ethan Miller posted on social media –
“So last night was awesome!!! We beat a very well coached and tough Ironton team but lost 42-36 to Boyd.
The duel was very close and all the guys wrestled great! I can’t thank our West Carter coaches, parents and fans enough. The duel couldn’t have gone off nor been so successful without you. Thank you!!!
“On a side note we wrestle at JV state in Louisville on Saturday. I had previously announced we qualified 6 for the tournament…. well after a few scratches we are now sending 8!!!
I’m so incredibly proud of these guys for putting in the work, doing the right things, sticking with it and getting to the big dance. Only 16 kids in the state qualify for this tournament so for a group of 8 first year wrestlers to make it is nothing short of amazing.
