The life of journalist and broadcaster Jim Phillips of Grayson will be celebrated with visitation for friends and family this evening, and funeral services tomorrow, January 3, 2020.
Decades of local residents will likely best remember Jim Phillips for the phrase, “There will be no school today in Carter County.”
He served as News Director at WGOH/WUGO Radio for decades and dedicated many years to his job as editor of the local newspaper where he began working by sweeping floors at an early age.
Visitation for James “Jim” Edward Phillips, 85, of Grayson will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today (January 2, 2019) at First Church of Christ, continuing after 9 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will follow at Grayson Memorial Burial Park.
