F!nal Fr!days Art Walk on January 31: "The ART of Elvis" by Gregory Jay Damron

Please, bring your friends and JOIN US in January! The Grayson Gallery & Art Center will host an opening reception during the monthly F!nal Fr!days Art Walk on January 31st from 6:00 to 9 pm.

This one of a kind exhibit, “The ART of Elvis” by Grayson native Gregory Jay Damron (now of Carrollton, Kentucky) will include dozens of Elvis Presley collectibles, memorabilia and pieces by other artists in addition to the original Elvis “tribute” works by Damron.

Various media will be represented including pencil drawings, watercolors, mixed media, photography and more. Some originals will be for sale and prints available upon request. In addition, many of the Elvis-themed items will also be for sale.

The artist and the GGAC have extended a special invitation to the artist’s fellow classmates of East Carter High School (Class of 1987) for a private reception on the 31st as well. Light refreshments featuring some of Elvis Presley’s favorite foods will be provided by Friends of the Gallery. Luke Simms will be singing Elvis tunes live and there is a house music singalong planned if enough interest is shown by visitors.

The public will also be able to cast a vote for their favorite piece of the exhibit for a Peoples Choice prize of $50.00 to be awarded to the artist. The event is free with donations at the door much appreciated.

What’s next at the gallery will be the annual “Peace & Love” themed-show with an opening reception set for February 28; artists may submit work on 2/15 or 2/17 from 10am to 2pm; March is the annual “Women in the Arts” event featuring all female artists and will open on March 27; details to follow via email to participating artists.

The GGAC is seeking volunteers and working artists to man the space during open hours. Studio work space will be provided without charge as a benefit for those hosting daily access to the gallery.
