Oh, the Places the Post May Go! (Tim doesn't know about this!)

Where do we think Carter County Post will be in 3 months? What about 2 years? We are unsure, but we know where WE want it to be. The real answer lies in all of you- all 27,000 residents of Carter County.

You see, we don’t get to determine our future. You do. Let me tell you a little about what we’ve done, where we want to go, and how we get there.

History

Carter County Post (The Post, CCP) really came from nothing more than a dream and determination. Tim NEEDED to have an outlet for who he truly is, and Carter County NEEDED a news outlet from us, by us. Just months beforehand we lost all connection with local news. We had no printed news presence in Carter County at all from our perspective.

June 16, 2019 was our first article after weeks of preparation. We are now nearing our 500th article, have had over 155,000 webpage views, and are easily averaging 1,000-2,000 page views a day lately.

We hope we have made you, Carter County, proud. But we are not done yet. Think about what we could really become.

The Future

The future of the Post is in your hands. We can be anything you want us to be. We have accomplished all of this with Tim having a full time job, and others involved doing the same. Could you imagine the local news, stories, and love the Post could share with Tim working on the Post full time?

It’s not out of the realm of possibility.

In 2008 Kevin Kelly wrote an Essay called “1,000 True Fans”. I ran across it a few years ago, and it has never left me. You can read it here: https://kk.org/thetechnium/1000-true-fans/

In the essay’s simplest terms, any artist creator, or business can operate with “1,000 true fans”. 1,000 people willing to share their hard earned money with this business. 1,000 supporters who want to see the work continue to be produced.

Carter County has over 27,000 residents. If 3.7% of Carter County financially supported the Post, could you imagine the future we would have. We can; it would look something like this:

Tim Preston working full time with the Post, and living a good eastern Kentucky life. A store front- downtown- beautiful- and for anyone to stop in. Extra money to make our website more appealing to the eyes. A presence all over the county, making news FOR US BY US.

So much can happen with 1,000 true fans.

How do we get there?

If you’re still with me, it’s really simple. We hope you find it in your heart to support our efforts- support Tim. With just a small, monthly commitment to the Post, Tim could focus full time on what we need to hear- local stories, local news, political updates, updates from local clubs, etc, etc, etc!

Would 1,000 of you be willing to make Carter County Post great and give us LESS THAN $2/week? Cancel that old paper subscription now and support something in our county!

$7 a month from 1,000 people would open the doors for local news like never before.

How can you get this ball rolling? We aren’t rocket scientists, and frankly, we aren’t great with technology. So, it’s going to take a few steps. 1) Email us at infoccpost@gmail.com  with you name, address, and a YES I’m willing to commit to $7 a month. If you’re willing to support our efforts with more, just let us know in that email.

You will get an invoice monthly, or can set up auto pay for this support. You can also cancel at any time.

Thank you.

To those of you who have already started supporting the Post and local news, THANK YOU. We cannot express enough how much it means to us. We hope we make all of Carter County proud with our efforts.

-From us behind the scenes. Sorry for throwing you out there, Tim 🙂
