Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) has awarded Chris Beaver, BSN, with the DAISY Award.
The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. As a DAISY Award partner, Bon Secours Kentucky Health System recognizes one of its nurses with this special honor every other month. DAISY Award honorees consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care. They are recognized as outstanding role models in the nursing community.
Beaver is a nurse in the OLBH Heart & Vascular Lab and has been an employee at OLBH for ten years. Beaver earned his degree in nursing from Ohio University. Beaver recently was featured in area media for utilizing his musical skills in health care. Beaver plays guitar or other instruments to help ease patient anxiety during procedures. He resides with his wife and three children in Flatwoods.
The DAISY Award originated from The DAISY Foundation. The foundation was formed in November 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura. The Foundation, in Barnes’ memory, was established to express gratitude to nurses for the work they do for patients and their families every day.
