Old Barns Of Carter County: Part III (12 photos)

"That wood is at least 200 years old. It came from the old barn when grandpa built this barn," Damron said.
Carl Damron recently provided a quick tour of a barn built by his grandfather and still owned by his brother, Jack Damron.

"His name was Carl Lafayette Damron and they called him Lafe," Damron said, estimating the barn was built "around 1900" and used for tobacco, cattle and "general farm stuff."

The structure still stands strong upon timbers reclaimed from the barn it replaced, Damron said as he  pointed out tool marks on what are believed to be white oak and American chestnut beams.
