Contestants and audience alike put their all into the annual Papa John's Pizza Eating Contest at the 2019 Carter County Fair Wednesday evening.
Michael McDavid, who was still chewing the very last bite of his 10-inch Papa John's pizza for a few minutes after the contest was called to an end, claimed first place in the kid's competition. "Do not breathe," he replied when asked the secret of his success.
Damien Jordan defeated a full slate of 10 competitors to claim first place in the adult division. Jordan claimed top spot by finishing every bite of his pizza in 3 minutes and 15 seconds.
