Integrating Wellness with Nature
In 2014, Amanda and Tim Grigsby established a guided tour ecotherapy business called Grigsby Outdoor Adventures in beautiful Carter County Kentucky. Amanda Grigsby, is a state and national certified therapy counselor of more than 20 years.Recently, Amanda became a certified clinical hypnotherapist.
Together, Amanda and her husband Tim offer weekend guided hikes, camping, caving or kayaking packages. All of their activities have the option to include wellness therapy as part of their guided tours. Amanda says, “Nature in itself is a coping skill.” Through activities in nature, one raises their serotonin levels. Serotonin is a chemical in the body that contributes to wellbeing and happiness.

Grigsby Outdoor Adventure offers a variety of activities for the nature enthusiast. Amanda says, “kayaking is the most popular activity by far”. You can do a guided tour to Hidden Cove, generally a 3-hour leisure trip, or go off on your own with shuttle service provided.
Their weekend camping/hiking package includes a variety of locations, around Grayson Lake in Carter county KY, the Red River Gorge in Wolfe county KY or Hawks Nest in West Virginia. Weekend camping/hiking packages include; meals, camping gear and assembly. Amanda encourages her clients to bring a camera and take pictures that speak to them!

Grigsby Outdoor Adventure offers a Women’s Retreat where Amanda and her team of licensed clinician and yoga instructor can work with clients to teach coping skills. Through the practice of meditation, mindfulness, and yoga, clients learn coping skill that can reduce or eliminate medica-tions for anxiety or depression.
Using ecotherapy, Amanda also works with trauma clients. Helping them integrate therapeutic practices with nature.
Amanda and Tim are very active in their community. They organize cleanups in Carter county, including a county wide kickoff initiative that launched in 2017 ending with a cookout & prizes.
