Site Visit at OLBH Sleep Lab Secures Accreditation

Representatives of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) conducted an on-site visit of the Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) Sleep Lab, which received a 100 percent passage of all measures to secure re-accreditation from the AASM.

The AASM is the national accrediting body for sleep disorders centers and labs. To receive a five-year accreditation, a sleep laboratory must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. In the spring, the OLBH Sleep Lab passed a review of its policies and procedures. The site visit review completes the accreditation process, which involved a detailed inspection of a lab’s facility and staff, including an evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts, and physician training. The AASM is a professional medical society for clinicians, researchers, and other health care providers in the field of sleep medicine.

The OLBH Sleep Lab conducts both adult and pediatric sleep studies to diagnose sleep disorders. For more information about the OLBH Sleep Lab, contact the OLBH CareLine at (606)-833-CARE (2273).
