Grown in Carter County

Jesse Bradford and family have once again begun offering the bounty from their garden plots on Anglin Branch and near Carter Caves State Resort Park.

Bradford said they grow a variety of produce locally, including green beans, bell peppers, tomatoes, corn, pumpkins, cabbage, cucumbers, gourds, potatoes and sweet potatoes, Indian corn, zucchini and summer squash.

Bradford said he soon expects to have cantaloupe (next week), and later watermelon ("around the first of August"), grown by another Carter County farmer.

This week, the family produce stand's choices included "Peaches & Cream" corn, waiting to be shucked, cleaned and cooked. With an apology, the farmer explained the ears are small, but tasty, and added a few extra ears to a $4 bag to help make up for the size.

Located across from Prichard Elementary on Main Street in Grayson, the Bradford family will have their produce for sale Wednesday through Saturday "weather permitting" from roughly 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
