Grayson Commission on Aging and Special Needs Citizens Meeting June 25, 2019

Grayson's Commission on Aging and Special Needs Citizens met June 25 at the city building along with State Representative Kathy Hinkle, who spoke about a new bill soon to be proposed on behalf of Kentucky's senior citizens.
Currently, Kentucky requires those over 70 years of age to participate in jury duty. Hinkle is looking to change this by sponsoring a bill that will allow any resident over the age of 70 to opt out of this duty. Hinkle reported having over 7 calls from Carter County alone over a 2 week period from seniors voicing their concerns about this topic.

Other topics of discussion among the members of the commission included: community wellness checks, transportation for seniors in the city, a resource pamphlet, and the Kentucky Prescription Assistance Program.

Grayson's Commission on Aging and Special Needs Citizens' next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. July 30th at the Grayson city building. The meeting is open to the public.
